You guys, Libby is 10 months old already! How did that even happen?? She is not so little anymore, although sometimes she still thinks she is.  She weighs over 50 pounds now and holding her is nearly impossible. Libby is extremely mellow -- one of the main reasons I was so set on getting a bernese. But she is always playful and energetic around other dogs, especially when she is with her best friend Georgia, the golden retriever. Libby loves kids – and the kids love her! All the little neighbor kids come by to play with her on their way to the playground. Libby yearns to be cuddled and pet. When she is looking for attention, she will put her paw on my leg and wait for me to pet her -- and if I don’t, she then tries to put her chin on my keyboard like ‘mom pleeease’. Since day one, she has always loved putting her chin on things. She sprawls out on her back, legs high in the air as she sleeps, and every once in a while I will catch her running in her little puppy dreams. I alway want to remember her cute little grin, the way she perks up whenever I talk to her, and how she pounces on her rope when we play fetch.

Libby has been soooo easy to train. She is sensitive and she instantly knows when she is in trouble.  She will eat ALMOST anything you give her (except garlic haha!) and her favorite time of the day is dinnertime. Today I was baking some bread and when I looked down, she quickly jerked her head out of the bucket with her face covered in flour -- HAHA! She definitely keeps us laughing. Although Libby loves the beach, she is literally TERRIFIED of water! But with every visit, it seems she braves a little further into the waves. She can sit, laydown, rollover, and shake, but my favorite trick we have taught her is to wait to eat until told to do so.  Sometimes I forget to give her the command, I walk away and when I come back she is still sitting there, waiting. We also used her extreme fear of water to keep her from coming upstairs (the only carpeted part of the house).  We would force her up the stairs to bathe her in the bathtub and now you couldn’t get her to come up those steps if you tried. Unless maybe you had a bowl of food at the top!

Libby is the perfect adventure dog. We love to take her camping and she loves hiking and running alongside our mountain bike rides. She jumps into the truck on her own, constantly tries to eat the wind, and is a major distraction to other drivers on the road. We think she is the cutest thing on this planet, and most everyone can probably agree. It seems we can’t go anywhere without someone asking to pet her. And I certainly can’t blame them. She makes us so happy. Life just wouldn’t be the same without our sweet Libby Girl!
