Honey { Half } Wheat Bread
On Saturday's our kitchen always turns into a bakery. We eat a lot, and I mean A LOT of bread over here. So -- we make 4 yummy loaves of homemade bread every week, slice them up, and pop them in the freezer for later. It's so nice to always have some good, hearty bread right at our fingertips. And thankfully we were blessed to have gotten a Bosch mixer (Thanks Janiece!) for our wedding, which has been such a lifesaver. We love that thing. I know that bread baking always seems like a big chore, but we've gotten this whole process down to such a science now that it literally takes 10 minutes to mix up the dough and get it in the oven. I've had a bunch of people ask for the recipe and it's really just a combination of a few different recipes we have tried. They are all pretty similar.
PS. Landon made today's batch. That's right, my husband has a secret talent of bread baking. It's awesome. I love him.

Honey Half Wheat Bread
Mix together:
- 6 C Lukewarm Water
- 2/3 C Canola Oil
- 2/3 C Honey
- 2 1/2 T Instant Yeast
- 2 T Dough Enhancer
Begin adding flour one cup at a time, alternating between wheat and white:
- 4 C White Flour
- 4 C Whole Wheat Flour
- Add 2 T Salt just as the dough begins forming (We forget the salt more time than not! haha oops!)
Mix and add flour until dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl. The dough should still be slightly sticky, but don't add too much flour or the dough will be to heavy to rise. Lightly coat 4 bread pans (we use 9x4) with non-stick spray. Divide dough into 4 equal parts and place into pans. Feel free to roll them and make them look pretty. We usually just plop them right in the pans. Allow the loaves to rise for 1 hour in the oven on the lowest possible heat setting (warm). One trick we've found that really helps is to fill a small pan with water and place on a lower rack during the rise and cook time. Once the loaves are fully risen, preheat oven to 350 degrees F and bake for 35 minutes or until crust is golden brown. Remove from pans and cool on wire racks for 20 minutes or if you are like us, immediately cut yourself a slice, lather it in jam, and devour the entire loaf before the 20 minutes are up! :)
