So guess who got another phone call this morning. I DID! I know. I am. so. darn. lucky. Every call just gets better and better too. This time around I was able to get Landon's parents on for a three way call and I think he really enjoyed that. Him and his dad are like two peas in a pod. I'm lucky that Lando has always had such a great guy to look up to. The entire conversation was all smiles and laughing. I'm really hoping these short little insignificant phone calls give him the little boost he needs to push through each new week.

Landon told us ALL about how his inspection went down, and to be honest... I seriously can't narrate the entire event with enough enthusiasm to have the same effect :) SO I will just let you hear it straight from him. Trust me it is worth listening to the whole thing.

This stuff is insane and I still can't believe he puked all over the floor and STILL passed. Yeah you heard me, he PUKED during this thing. hahaha. the best part is that he kept on going with his pushups until the sergeant turned around and immediately got nauseous himself. wow. and what's even better is that during last week's call Landon mentioned how there have been stories of guys puking during this inspection. Who knew that would actually happen to him. He said he hopes that him and his puke become a legendary moment, a story that future candidates will tell for years to come. Good job babe. You did it :) You made your claim to fame haha.

In the coming week, the candidates will continue prepping for the drill competition that will take place two weeks from now and studying for their first set of exams on Navigation and Engineering next Friday. Lando says he should be able to pass these exams pretty easily considering how basic the material is compared to his past 5 years of mechanical engineering. Although, it is still important that he is disciplined in his studying and doesn't go into an exam completely unprepared. So yeah wish him luck!

I can't even begin to tell you how great it feels to have this portion of OCS over with. I feel like he is actually getting somewhere now and that he might actually even make it home alive. Being able to communicate a little more has also been a huge help. I was literally starting to go crazy from having this one-way conversation stuff. Deployments? yeah they are going to be so rough. But we will push through those just the same :) This has by far been the longest we have ever been apart... going on 7 weeks now and boy it sure hasn't been easy. You never realize how much you have come to depend on your spouse until suddenly they aren't there. Lando brings so much happiness to my life and I'm reaaalllyyy looking forward to the day I get to jump in his arms and hug him.. and I'll stay there for at least an hour.. or two :) What a sweet moment that will be. Sweeter than chocolate, sweet.

As for the rest of his phone call, Landon mentioned that there are greats benefits to being married and mormon in the Navy haha. For example, he gets paid more for being married and because he is mormon he gets to go off base to church every week and call home (nobody else gets that). So yeah, that's cool right :) He also said he will get a pay raise for speaking fluent Norwegian! Who would have guessed that his Norwegian would ever be useful in the US Navy! haha.

It is soooo weird to hear how much Landon has already changed since he left for OCS. After RLP was over, he was in his room cleaning up the mess the sergeant made and he noticed himself making sure the hangers were all perfectly spaced.. even though the candidates are done with big inspections for a few weeks... Are you kidding?! My babe and OCD-ness have never been a happy combination. But! lo and behold, fear can motivate pretty much anyone to do practically anything. I can't believe I haven't been ordering him around to do pushups before now! haha. The military has it all figured out. The secret ingredient to detail oriented husbands is clearly fear and I've been missing it ALL ALONG. hahaha just kidding. kinda ;) LOVE YOU BABE!

So every time I ask Lando what he misses the very most, he pauses for a few seconds and says.. sugar... I can't wait to eat candy.. or a big bowl of ice cream haha. Poor guy. Back in the beginning I decided I wanted to help support him by passing up all things sweet (no guys that does not include fruit!) until his graduation. So far it hasn't been so bad :) It's actually pretty easy when you have a good reason to help you through it.

Along with laptop privileges, Landon also got his watch back this week, which he says is super nice. It's amazing how something so simple and usually unimportant can suddenly be seen as such a luxury. A watch guys. Landon was excited about a $5 walmart watch. He said now he is able to keep track of how much more suffering he has left to endure until the day is through haha.

Well, here's to a new week! I will post more pictures once they are up on the training command page. We can't thank you all enough for your support! It seriously means the world to us. We have so much to be grateful for right now! 9 weeks to go!
